In a thrilling matchup at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, GILAS Pilipinas showcased their resilience against Thailand's fierce fourth-quarter onslaught, securing a solid 87-72 victory. Despite Justin Brownlee's challenging start, shooting just 3-of-15 in the first half, he regained his offensive prowess in the second.

With a narrow 41-35 halftime lead, the Filipino team exploded in the third quarter, reaching a significant 68-47 advantage after a pivotal basket by June Mar Fajardo. Thailand, fueled by Tyler Lamb and Freddie Lish, staged a spirited comeback, closing in at 63-68.

However, Gilas Pilipinas stayed composed. Brownlee, CJ Perez, Chris Newsome, and Scottie Thompson stepped up, securing crucial baskets that kept the Philippines ahead. With this victory, Gilas Pilipinas maintains a perfect 2-0 record in Group C, while Thailand falls to 0-2.

Brownlee led the team with 19 points, supported by Perez's 15-point contribution. This win significantly boosts Gilas Pilipinas' confidence as they approach their final group match against Jordan on Saturday. A victory in that game would propel the Philippines into the quarterfinals, setting the stage for further triumphs in the tournament.
