3 MILLIONS FIGHTERS IN FURY CAGE: KELLY HEADLINES + HOLLAND & MOICANO

Three fighters on the MILLIONS roster are competing this week and putting their skills to the test at Fury Pro Grappling 3.  The main event features Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Danielle Kelly taking on former UFC women’s strawweight champion Carla Esparza as a last minute replacement.  

Kelly was originally scheduled to face Rose Namajunas, who is the reigning UFC women’s strawweight champion, but COVID-19 protocols forced her out.  Just one day before the change, Kelly told MILLIONS, “I’ve been focusing on tuning up my defense since she’ll be the stronger one.”  

Esparza is 4 inches smaller than Namajunas, but she is a more accomplished grappler.  Kelly says she’s not changing her game plan now that her opponent has changed, “I feel like I know what she will do.  While we are moving around I’ll decide where I want to take the match.”     

Another MILLIONS athlete, Kevin Holland, is also on the card, taking on Kody Hamrah.  “I don’t know anything about him,” Holland tells MILLIONS, “I hope he is ready to come out and entertain the fans and have a good match.  I hope he enjoys smack talk as well.”  Holland is a rising star in the UFC and earned the nickname ‘big mouth’ from UFC President Dana White.  

While Holland is known for his quick hands and fast lips, he’s never been touted for his grappling ability. Holland says he’s always looking to improve his skills, “but parts of the ground game are obviously an area that people want to see growth from me.  I am starting to enjoy wrestling and blending that with my game.”  

Renato Moicano is a Brazilian UFC fighter who is also part of team MILLIONS.  Like many of his countrymen, Moicano came out of the womb wearing a gi, and put the doctor in an arm-bar.  He’ll be getting some quality mat time with a fighter 10 years younger than him.  Chase Hooper is a 22-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, who will certainly have his hands full against the much more experienced Moicano.
