Omar Rosario Fights at Top Rank Event in Quest to be Puerto Rican Star

January 13, 2022

Carrying an entire nation on your back is no easy task, but that’s exactly what Omar Rosario plans to do Saturday night.  The super lightweight boxer is putting his undefeated record on the line against Raekwon Butler at the Top Rank boxing event at Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, New York. It will be broadcast live on ESPN and ESPN Deportes (simulcast on ESPN+) at 10pm ET/7pm PT.

The 24-year-old boxer spoke to MILLIONS through the Personal Video feature and responded to our questions using the short form ask me anything video.

He says he’s planning on making the most of this chance to showcase his skills, “we are ready to put in a showing Saturday night and demonstrate that I will be the future of boxing and I will be the new superstar of Puerto Rico.” If Rosario can improve to 6-0 he’ll put himself one step closer to fighting for a belt.

At such a young age and so early in his career, Rosario is fighting on the main card of a big night in boxing that will see Joe Smith Jr. defend his WBO World Light Heavyweight Title against Steve Geffrard.  Rosario is looking at it as a chance to show the world what he can do.

Rosario says, “I am very happy with this fight and excited with this opportunity to fight in New York for my first time.  I’m working on being better day by day.  I want to improve all my tools in boxing.  I want to be a complete boxer everyday and I know with time I will achieve that.”
