ShareMILLIONS fighter Vanessa “Lil Monster” Demopoulos promised “freaking explosions” heading into her fight against Silvana Juarez at UFC 270, and she did not disappoint.
Demopoulos scored a submission win in dramatic fashion before the end of the first round, and was nearly completely out of it just moments earlier. Juarez threw a hard right overhand that landed squarely on Demopoulos’ jaw, sending her to the mat. Juarez pounced and landed heavy punches directly on Lil Monster’s head.
“I woke up on the ground,” said Demopoulos in her post fight interview with Joe Rogan. That’s when the jiu-jitsu beast stirring inside exploded out of her. “I love jiu-jitsu, I do jiu-jitsu everyday” exclaimed Demopoulos, who quickly started hunting for the armbar. “I was like oh my gosh I have an overhook, she's in my guard, this is amazing,” said Demopolous, who heard her coach yelling to grab Juarez’s left leg with her right hand and go for the sweep. She flipped Juarez onto her back, extended the arm, and forced Juarez to tap.
Demopoulos’ excitement carried into the post-fight interview with Rogan. “Yo, it’s Joe Rogan….I’m here with Joe Rogan!” She was so jacked-up she even let Rogan carry her off.
