The University recognized her outstanding accomplishment during the Wildcats' match against Georgia at Rupp Arena this past Sunday. Leah Edmond, the third Athletes Unlimited Volleyball Champion, joins the esteemed ranks of inaugural champion Jordan Larson and 2022 champion Bethania de la Cruz. Climbing to the top of the leaderboard with an impressive 4,313 points after five weeks of intense play, Edmond secured her status as the undisputed champion of the 2023 season. Having dedicated her entire professional volleyball career to Athletes Unlimited, Edmond's journey began at the University of Kentucky, where she was a standout player from 2016 to 2019. Throughout her collegiate years, she earned All-American honors each season and played a pivotal role in leading her teams to four NCAA Tournament appearances. As a back-to-back Southeastern Conference Player of the Year in 2018 and 2019, Edmond etched her name into the program's history books as the all-time kills leader in the 25-point rally-scoring era. Her contributions played a vital role in Kentucky's undefeated SEC season and consecutive SEC championships. Edmond's impact extends beyond her individual accolades. She wasn't alone in representing the Wildcats during the 2023 season. Alli Linnehan, an outside hitter, secured a medalist position, finishing second overall. Additionally, middle blocker Kaz Brown achieved a noteworthy position in the final leaderboard. Edmond had the privilege of playing alongside both Linnehan and Brown during her time as a Wildcat. The University of Kentucky, proud of Edmond's accomplishments, showcased their appreciation with a special recognition during the Wildcats' recent match.
